Hay on Wye

Sorry that the review of Skyfall was, well let's e honest very brief, I really wanted to write a lot more but to be honest I have had a bad cold this week ad only now am I feeling a bit better -still sniffy but the sore throat has gone. Anyway today off we went on a trip to Hay-on-Wye. Yep that's right I was let loose in the book town of Britain.

I was very amused by the banner below:

Now I love my Kindle and it is perfect for holidays and taking to work, but there is nothing like holding a real book in your hands, the texture and  the smell, books are some of my favourite thigns, and yes of course i bought some, here they are below:

Okay so the middle item is an old magazine from 1955 and in my defence I bought it because there is an article on Marilyn Monroe that I don't have in it. Also the Focus on Fame book is by a photographer who took photos of MM and there is a chapter and some photos of her inside.

All in all a good day and now I have more books to add to the pile by my bed, I'm not going to read them though until I've finished the Shakespeare bio and the Bob Mitcham one.
At least I'm going to try not too.

31 days of Marilyn - day 3

Today on day 3 I am celebrating the world's best Marilyn Monroe lookalike - ever - the lovely Suzie Kennedy. I have been lucky enough to meet Suzie a few times over the last few years and here are some photos of her

No only does Suzie look like our lovely Marilyn she is also a wonderful person, very warm and caring, just like our Marilyn.

Here's to you Suzie xxx

31 days of Marilyn - Day 1

Well here we go day one of the Marilyn Month - just a few things past and present to do with our lady.
Firstly 2 magazines are out this week with 1 page articles in them they are Best and Grazia, nice little articles that mention Michelle Morgan and her wonderful book Marilyn Monroe Private and Undisclosed - not sensational or scandalous, just a nice couple of pages celebrating our favorite star

Best & Grazia magazine - photo by Michelle Morgan

Marilyn on the beach at Amagensett by Sam Shaw 1956 - one of my favorite sets of photos

Marilyn the Musical - Publicity from a 1980's West End Musical dedicated to Marilyn which starred the late Stephanie Lawrence as Marilyn (I was lucky enough to see Stephanie in Starlight Express and Blood Brothers and she was fantastic wish I could have seen her in this - I do however own a cassette of some songs from the show)

Book of the day is Metamorphosis - this book is a fairly new one among the plethora of Marilyn Monroe book that have been released over the years and it is fantastic - not much text but the quality of the photographs is superb!

And finally a quote of the day from our Marilyn herself

"I'm not interested in money - I just want to be wonderful!"

That's all for today 31 days of Marilyn returns tomorrow xxx
