Places to go - Movies to see - Life to live

Well things are getting busy over here and I have lots of plans in the pipeline from various photoshoots to parties and nights out. It looks like 2011 is going to be one of the best years I've had in a long time.
A friends daughter is about to have her first baby, then another of her daughters is having her engagement party in April, my great neice's 1st birthday party is this weekend so thats lots of photos. Other photoshoots planned are of a friend Danielle at an abandoned church, I also plan on visitng Bristol Zoo, St Fagan's museum of Welsh life and Big Pit mining museum in Blaenavon (St Fagans and Big Pit are Free so as they are only up the road so to speak it would be very rude not to take advantage of them) there's also other places I would like to visit in the local area as well as portraits for other people.

I love movies but to be honest I hardly ever watch them, Ihave s collection of films on DVD but really have to be in the mood - however in the last few weeks a friend has been visiting quite regularly and we have been watching lots of films - every time he brings a couple over and we sit and watch them so I have been catching up on some I have missed over the years - last night we actually watched one I have seen many times - Face Off with John Travolta and Nicholas Cage - this is one of our favourite films and we were up til after 2.30 and I started work at 7.30 - so not much sleep last night - but I really don't feel that tired at all. Next visit we will probably watching another of our favourite films A Chorus Line - we used to watch it all the time when we were in college - and that was 20 years ago but we probably both know the film all the way through so we will be joining in with cast.

The lat few years I have suffered really badly from depression - however this year I am determined to enjoy myself - spending time doing the things I love with the people I love - holidays with the family days and nights out with my friends and generally living one of my favourite quotes is from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At the end of season five she says in the last episode to her sister Dawn:

'The hardest thing to do in this world is to live in it - Be brave - Live!'

An old friend joins the cast of Holby City

When I was younger (back in the day when the dinosaurs ruled the planet), I went to drama school in Hertfordshire, while there I obviously made many friends, this has prompted, over the years the 'Guess who was in.... last night'
Well this Tuesday former house mate and drama student Adam Astill joined the cast of Holby City as Orthopedic Consunltant Dan Hamilton, so from now on I will be watching to see Adam in action

Here are 2 photos from HTS

Black Swan

I went to see Black Swan last night with a close friend - we said a few weeks ago that we wanted to see it - well we both finished work early yesterday so decided to go - now I haven't been to the cinema for a while so I was really looking forward to it and I wasn't disappointed.
I'm not going to give you a plot run through as it's been pretty widely reviewed anyway - but we really enjoyed it. it really is a powerful film, very hard to describe - someone asked me if it was a thriller or a horror film and I wouldn't describe it as either but it has elements of both.
I would reccomend the film as it's one of the best I have seen in recent years and I would quite happily sit through it again.

Now I have been to the cinema I really want to go again as I love film - in fact when we got back to mine we watched Ocean's Eleven - a special film for both of us as we have both been to Vegas on seperate occasions and are hoping to go again soon

Valentines Day Sucks

Ok, so I have a boyfriend, but the chances of me actually getting anything from him is pretty small. I mean probably not even a card (though if the unthinkable happens and I get one then I will post in on here later) In fact no one has ever sent me flowers - for any occasion let alone Valentine - in fact I hardly ever get anything - to be honest I'm beginning to feel deprived (that's deprived not depraved) I think I'm going spend the entire evening sulking and do what I usually do - watch Bridget Jones' Diary for the millionth time

Would it be too much to for the bf to get me a rose - I don't need a whole bunch just a single red one would do for me. I'm not greedy - and would it be too much to spend the eveing with him? I'm not particularly demanding but like any woman I want to be made to feel I'm special (well I know I am I'm awesome but it would be nice for someone else to recognise it).

At least this year I actually have a boyfriend and although I'm not likely to see him tonight at least it won't be as bad as years gone by - and you never know I might get lucky
UPDATE: I got a text

Ice Skating Photos

Woohoo ice skating yesterday was absolutely brilliant, there was only about 20 people on the rink so it was nice and quiet so was able to get quite a bit of confidence back that not being on the ice for 6 years took away - great exercise as well and I can feel it in my legs this morning.
Here are the photos

Get your skates on

Alex has a wobble

So much fun

We are planning on going again next week as soon as Alex knows what shifts she is working and to be honest I can't wait.

Ice Skating pt 2

Well this afternoon I am going ice skating with Alex again this time however the session starts at 1pm and it should be pretty quiet on the rink - so hopefully this time we will stay for the whole or most of the seesion. I also plan going in the skate shop as I would like a new pair of skates are mine are 20 years old - still in good condition as I haven't been regularly since I was 16 - but new regime new skates is called for.
Alex and I will have our cameras this afternoon so look out for photos here later if you fancy a good laugh.
OOh and on the books front have read quite a few and today I downloaded the e-books app for my BlackBerry, so that will be a new way of reading for me and at least the books won't be taking up too much space in my already overcrowded flat. I will still buy books especially Marilyn and Terry Prattchet as I collect those but for general reads this is the way to go

Anyway more later.....

The Weekend

Well last weekend I went ice skating with my friends Alex an Tasha unfortunately it was so busy being a Friday Disco Night that I couldn't cope with all the people rushing past on the skates so we have decided to try again on Thursday afternoon which hopefully will be a bit quieter and of course won't be in the dark as it was on Friday.
After that we popped in to the 'Port for a few drinks which was nice and on Sunday to the Rolling Mill Risca for their weekly Karaoke - always fun and yes I did sing

This week

This last week I have been on a weeks holiday from work - and I have to say it has been quite relaxing, I have been shopping with friends and out for hot chocolate and holiday brochures. I haven't seen the boyfriend for a while due to the fact he has a virus so isn't feeling the best add his heavy workload and the fact we live in different countries (he lives in England I in Wales) has made getting together a little on the hard side lately
Anyway tomorrow I am going ice skating in Cardiff with my friend Alex and I am really looking forward to it. I'm not worried about falling over or anything like that as I have been ice skating many times before, although it's been about 6 years since I last went. The scary part is that after she wants to go clubbing! I'm 36 I don't do clubbing, I'm don't know any of the music and everyone is always soo young in these clubs but stupidly I say yes. So what was going to be a great night is now looking extremely scary.
I will let you know how it goes if I survive.

P.S. I'm still Facebook free
